meli_mollifies: (I can smile! Adorable.)
I just had my first experience with a film rental. 'How to Train Your Dragon' is, well... cute.

Joe mentioned I should also partake in old films. He's let me borrow 'Casablanca' and a Christmas-themed one. 'It's A Wonderful Life'. I'm... curious to see how this goes.

That's very nice of him to lend you movies from his collection.

He's been quite nice... Occasionally concerned at my lack of knowledge about certain things, such as films and music.

Mortals are odd about that sort of thing. Apparently, if you tell them you were very sheltered, they accept that as a reasonable excuse.

Date: 2010-11-30 04:44 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
He did ask me if I'd had a sheltered life. I told him, "In a manner of speaking, yes." He's been quite eager to share.

It's good you've found someone you can talk to then!

Date: 2010-11-30 08:44 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
It's quite nice, I admit. Although I'm quite sure a woman by the name of Amanda who works there does not care for me in the slightest. I've not figured out just why.

Date: 2010-11-30 10:46 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] blesseddeath.livejournal.com
She's jealous, dear sister, of the attention you are receiving. Keep her at a distance.
Which seems strange. She has worked there far longer than I.

Date: 2010-12-01 12:07 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] blesseddeath.livejournal.com
That may be. But she wants the attention you're getting from this mortal. It bothers her that you are getting it instead.

Date: 2010-12-01 02:31 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
...

But I... And she's

That seems silly of her. It's not as if he's asking to court me or something which is something men just do not do. I'll take your advice, sister dear.

Date: 2010-12-01 02:36 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] blesseddeath.livejournal.com
That's because mortals are silly. She sees you as a threat to something she has somehow claimed for herself.

If she gets to be a problem I'm sure Phonos could take care of her.

Poor mama.

Poor Mama, indeed. I just... I do not know how she deals with them sniping at each other as they do.

Poor Mama, indeed. I do not know how she copes with them sniping at each other all the time. I have a feeling they somehow manage to put her in the middle of it, even if they do not intend to.

She typically doesn't have to. This is going to be a trying experience for us all.

If she didn't make mama so happy, I'd love to see grandmother disappear. This is ridiculous.

I don't know the woman, to be sure. I'd much rather have both Mama and Papa happy. Grandmother seems to be the drain of that particular emotion from them.

We need to get mama out for a while. Away from this.

Let's take her to a Christmas tree farm.

I think she would adore that. Perhaps have her pick one out to decorate?

We should also take her to see the giant tree they lit up last night. She would probably like that as well. And I bet she would like a second Christmas tree. She's rather fond of the one we already have.

Who is "Joe?"

Date: 2010-11-30 03:59 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
Joe is my employer, Papa.

Date: 2010-11-30 08:35 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
Your job is doing death rites?

Date: 2010-11-30 08:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
Something of the nature, though not quite what you or I would consider them to be. Modern mortals have so many ways to send their dead onto the next life, just as various tribes always have. I... simply make them appear a little more aesthetic to mourners before burial or cremation.

Date: 2010-11-30 09:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
And it allows you to keep up with your real job?

Date: 2010-12-01 12:03 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
Well, yes. The ghosts--they follow me still, but they seem weakened to me somehow. If I leave an area, they stay. They are tied there.

But those who are not bound, they come and talk with me. Sometimes they are lost, sometimes lonely or curious about me. And so I talk with them as I do my mortal work. It seems to make them happy.

Here we go.

I could lend you a few movies, dear?

Date: 2010-11-30 09:50 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
I'm sure what she has is adequate.

Date: 2010-11-30 10:09 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] emeraldandgold.livejournal.com
I know your nose is long and hooked, Hades, but do keep out.

Date: 2010-11-30 10:27 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
It would seem you would be the one who is overstepping their influence, Demeter.

She's not your child, you keep out.

Date: 2010-11-30 10:58 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] emeraldandgold.livejournal.com
I am talking, is that now a sin in your eyes?

She's my grandchild, you have taken enough from me so do not try to take every civil relationship I attempt to make.

Date: 2010-12-01 10:38 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
You are nothing but an irritant.

Date: 2010-12-01 10:42 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] emeraldandgold.livejournal.com
Fair enough, I suppose it would've been better had I never existed.

Date: 2010-12-01 11:01 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] emeraldandgold.livejournal.com
And I suppose that means that Persephone can't exist.

Date: 2010-12-01 11:05 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
You are changing the criteria of your argument.

Date: 2010-12-01 11:06 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] emeraldandgold.livejournal.com
If I had never existed Persephone would've never existed, it's called earth logic, Hades.

Date: 2010-12-01 11:19 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] helmed-darkness.livejournal.com
You proposed that existence would have been better without you. While personal bias may push our opinions in opposite directions, neither you or I have experience in this alternate existence to qualify or disprove your statement.

Adding the loss of Persephone would undoubtedly change my bias on the situation, but would also be impossible to prove or disprove the effects on reality. This addendum, however, was not added as a theoretical conjecture on your part. I believe the most pedestrian way to express what your trying to do is called "being a bitch."

Papa. Please. They're only movies, not a dowry. I know you do not care for each other, but I cannot imagine Mama enjoys being in the middle of you two. Mama loves you. Grandmother cannot take that from you.

I believe you both are without considering it. Do you truly think Mama has an easy time with your bickering at each other about her? It may not start off that way, but it seems to me that is how it ends, and I've only barely seen you and Grandmother argue.

Date: 2010-12-01 02:48 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
I would like that very much. Thank you, kindly.

Alright, just tell me which ones you want and I'll drop them over.

The old films are horrid. Don't bother.

Date: 2010-12-02 01:41 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] meli-mollifies.livejournal.com
That is a decision I'll make for myself, thank you.

Your choice. Just remember that I warned you.
