I know I do not have to, but I feel that this is something that I need to do. I feel as though my crippling fear has caused me to lose my only sister, and I don't want that.

Things are difficult enough as it is. I need to find strength.

Sisters do not lose one another because of anger. If this is what you want to do, then that is what will happen. I had no great hopes of the two of you becoming friends. I just wanted you to believe that your family would keep you from harm, even with the addition of the dog. That is all.

At the time it was such a shock, and I was so upset--I simply did not know what to do. Fear is a curious thing, sister. It has made me weak.

That's what family is, Melinoe, a test of patience. I know that it may be hard, but you should remember that when dealing with mama and papa right now. Be patient with them. They do not have malicious intent.
