It isn't unusual to feel this way--not knowing what it is you are supposed to be feeling. Especially after something like this and when it is a parental figure, no matter the relationship you had.

I know you do not readily know me, Grandmother, but know that I am sorry for your loss. You should not have to feel so torn.
